All courses are 5 weeks long and cost £60 per person unless otherwise stated.

MONDAYS

10 - 12am  GCSE ART
This is a chance to experience the satisfaction of gaining a qualification in art and to understand the different ways in which art is now taught and learnt. There will be a requirement to make a commitment to work outside the class time researching and experimenting with your own ideas.This course encourages personal artistic development and engagement with the work of other artists.

10 - 12am  A/S & A Level ART
 
A-level allows students to develop an awareness of the importance of consumers to art and design, as well as gaining an understanding of the contribution of artists, craftspeople and designers to society and industry. Students are required to build upon the knowledge, understanding and skills gained in the GCSE with a greater depth of study. Practical skills underpin all aspects of the subject and the ability to make critical judgements are considered to be important.

1 - 3pm Calligraphy
This course shows students how to create beautiful writing using traditional and modern calligraphic skills.

1 - 3pm Portraiture      £70
This is a new course for May 2011.  A traditional portraiture class with a dressed model in an appropriate setting for long poses (2-3 weeks).  Painting in oils or pastels.  Suitable for all levels.

4 - 6pm GCSE Support
For year 9 students and above this class is designed to support the GCSE curriculum taught in schools and prepare those students who have not yet started.We experiment with a wide range of materials working on sustained projects.

7.15 - 9.15pm Mixed Media 1 
For those who do not want to be tied down to a particular medium, this class explores different techniques and materials. We will look at the work of other artist and gain some understanding of the art world. One of the aims of this course is to improve observation skills as well as lots of experimenting and having fun!

TUESDAYS
10 - 12am Acrylics (Improvers)
This course aims at developing confidence and creativity within your art work and tackles some more challenging painting techniques!    We will also be examining many contemporary and historical artists and their work.

1pm - 3pm Life Class      £70
This course is for those who wish to take their art to the next level.  Life drawing makes you feel like an artist and makes you work like one too!  It is the fastest way to improve your observational skills and a vital tool for the serious artist.  Most weeks there will be a different model and a variety of poses. A level students are most welcome.

WEDNESDAYS

10 - 12 Beginners Watercolour
A broad course to include techniques and styles used for watercolour. There will be some drawing included as well as a good picture tend to start with good observation. We will look at basic skills and materials adding to these as the course progresses.

1pm - 3pm Improver's Watercolours and other materials
This course is designed for those who have had some watercolour experience and want to extend their experience. We will use watercolour in a traditional way as well as adding in other materials to gain new and exciting effects.

4pm - 6pm After School Club  (£50 for 5 weeks)  8-14 year olds
A class for children aged 8-14 which combines learning about art and artists with fun projects covering all kinds of materials and subjects. A great way to relax and have fun after school whilst also learning fantastic skills.

7-9pm  life drawing  £70
An unmissable class for people who want to improve or practice their figure drawing skills. This class welcomes all abilities and ecourages the use of different materials  and is a great chance to draw from a life model each week.

THURSDAYS

10 - 12am Drawing and Painting
Each week you will have the opportunity to try out new mediums and learn how to get the most out of them.  With lots of demonstrations and step by step guidance, this is a great course for those who want a taster of all the different materials used on our courses.

1 - 3pm  Studio Sessions             £45 per 5 weeks  (£30 per 5 weeks for BAS students)
These sessions give you the opportunity to paint or draw in a relaxed studio environment (with a tutor on hand to offer advice and guidance). It is perfect for those who would like to further explore techniques they have learned in the classes and also for the more experienced artist who would benefit from painting alongside others without constraints. Work at your own pace and enjoy!!
